Every Monday the students and staff get together for a time of fellowship and praise and worship. During this time someone also takes a few minutes to share from the Word. This week I had the privilege of sharing during our gathering.

I spoke about Paul and Demas and compared their lives. Paul desired to run the race of Christian ministry and finish well. And despite persecution and even prison, he did finish well. Demas on the other hand did not finish well. He served along-side Paul during the last years of Paul’s life and is even referred to as a “fellow-laborer.” In the end though, Demas turned his back on God and Paul and called it quits. Demas loved this world too much and was not willing to commit himself to the difficult work of ministry.

My challenge was to continue to faithfully serve our Lord in whatever ministry God leads us to be involved in, whether it’s as pastor, missionary or Sunday school teacher. Believers are not promised lives of ease, and ministry is no exception, but as we trust in God, we’ll find that His grace is sufficient every step of the way.
